Die Siebte Sinn - The Seventh Sense

Die Siebte Sinn - you won't know this unless you are German, and probably you would have to be under 25 years old to really understand this. I know what it means as my husband is German and we have watched the cult program together. It was a program shown from 1966,  designed to inform drivers of the dangers of traffic, and all that could go wrong. Absolutely fantastic is the scene about Women Drivers from the 70s.

Die Siebte Sinn is also a song from one of my favourite German singers, Herbert Grönemeyer.

Why am I talking about this? Because I have been thinking about the number 7.

It is all SuperAmazingMum's fault. She "tagged",several bloggers to write about the seven things that you might not know about me. It was a challenge set to her by a blogger, a kind of chain mail of bloggers, designed to introduce readers to new bloggers and bloggers to each other. I am not sure if I can think of seven bloggers who have not already been tagged, but here are my seven things that you did not know about me. Check out the blogs of the others:

OK. Seven things you do not know about me.

1. I cannot knit. I have tried. I have browsed John Lewis's aisles, bought wool, bought knitting books, googled and found youtube knitting instructions. I cannot do it. I gaze in admiration at friends who can knit, watch their fingers blur in a multicoloured tangle of wool and think, "It CANNOT be so difficult". But it is. My knitting attempts are many, and holey.

2. Three times a bridesmaid, never a bride - not for me. I have been a flowergirl twice, and a bridesmaid twice. I must ask my mum to scan and send me a pic of the first flowergirl outfit. I had a dashing blue mop cap. With lace frill.

3. I don't really like chocolate that much. I know, I know. I have chosen the name "MmeLindt/MmeLindor" but really, if you were to offer me crisps or chocolate, I would take the crisps. Unless it were Godiva.

4. I like trashy romance novels. Pure escapism, but I do enjoy a bodice-ripper. Particularly historical ones.

5. I am short. This might or might not be news to you, but a few online acquaintances have expressed surprise that I am only 1.60cm tall (or is that short?). I don't know if it is the Mme part of my name (which also led some online posters to presume I was a fan of S&M games).

6. I was running out of secrets, so had a look at the kind of things that other bloggers were talking about and discovered that I have a fainting fellow in Heather from the SAHMlovingit blog. I thought I was the only one to have fainted after having a piercing - my ears when I was about 13 years old. Many years later, when my daughter was almost two weeks overdue, a midwife encouraged me to try acupuncture. Against my better judgement, I agreed and tried to overcome my needle phobia. The next thing I remember is the midwife trying to prop me up - remember I was 9 1/2 months pregnant and not exactly as light as a feather - while she shouted for assistance.

7. Oh, this is a good one. When I was 19 years old, I met with German friends of my parents while I was looking for a job as an aupair. One woman was really sweet and we chatted for ages, through a translator as I did not speak any German and she spoke no English. We joked about the translator's son, who was my age but had a girlfriend. My newfound friend told me that she had a son and I should come to Germany and marry him. Reader, I did.

Ok, so I have let you into the depths of my mind and my soul. Kind of.

Now I will pass the baton. I think most of the bloggers I know have done this already but perhaps my old friend, and new but fabulous blogger Shelley from Aufwiedersehen Fat would oblige.
